Wine List for June 28 Wine Tasting
Glazebrook Sauvignon Blanc
This is a new Sauvignon Blanc just in from the New Zealand region of Marlborough, famous for the variety. It goes beyond the typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Many are tart and emphasize their grass and grapefruit flavors. The Glazebrook is much more complex with notes of guava, passion fruit and lemon lime.
Ondine Chardonnay
This is a mix of styles, fermented half in wood and half in stainless steel, then aged five months in oak. The wine has lemon and lime notes with a subtle vanilla flavor.
Castello del Poggio Moscato d' Asti
This is the hot new Moscato from Italy that has been featured at Olive Garden recently. They let you try it for $5 a glass. We let you try it for free. This wine is sweet, but fruity sweet as opposed to syrupy sweet. It is well-balanced and with an extremely refined structure.
Yellowtail Pinot Noir
The newest Yellow Tail wine. A good summer red, approachable and easy to drink. It has the usual cherry and raspberry flavors you associate with Pinot Noir, as well as surprising depth, structure and balance.
Villa Pozzi Nero d' Avola
Villa Pozzi is the winery, Nero is the grape variety and Avola is the geographical area, in this case southeastern Sicily. Avola is famous for Neros, which tend to be intense, flavorful red wines with spice and red fruit flavors and a tight finish. If you have never tried one, this is your chance.
Ondine Merlot
A burst of plum jam on the nose precedes a light, fresh and fruity palate. This wine is a great summer red, and could even be served slightly chilled..
